Secret Agent Notes

The riddle includes the words 'brushing and combing' but on the close up shot of the riddle it is printed on the page as 'brushing and coming', missing out the letter B.

Episode Synopsis

Jace has now taken over the job as Secret Agent C.A.B. In the shop he found a hidden camera containing film - and Colin discovered that it was Mr Hellman who was watching them from the window. But what is under the white sheet in the corner of the shop?

Episode Guide

'Secret Agent C.A.B Update, Hellman's shop is weird, there's something hidden in it under a white sheet and I've found a secret camera hidden there too. Also I followed a man called Robert, kept on about a postcard or something daft.

The white sheet is raised over the stone beast and the beast starts to glow at Colin, it's eyes sparkle and it starts to smoke. Hellman quickly covers the beast and says that it is one of the Queen's beasts and he doesn't know how it got there, he woke up one morning and there it was.

In the back room he says he met a man in Kings Lynn and that he was made to return 'they told me something horrible would happen to me if I didn't, my treasure seeking days would be terminated. Hellman passes a letter to Colin.

Jace is in his dark room developing the film he found in the camera from the shop.

Robert appears on his motorbike and goes into the newsagents, he leaves reading a magazine about the missing stone beast and it's legend.

'The origins of the legend are unknown, a spokesman for Hampton Court Palace confirmed today that it was being taken seriously, he said that the theft was a serious threat to the throne of England. The theory is if the ravens of the Tower of London ever disappear the crown of England will fall. Here we have a similar though less well known legend is if the Queen's beast disappears the fortunes of the nation will suffer. I say beast because although there are only ten of these stone creatures, only one is said to have mysteical power over the throne, trouble is we don't know which one it is, King Henry VIII left coded directions about it, but no-one knows where he wrote them down. Professors and universities all over the country are searching through libraries and old documents is a desparate race to find King Henry's instructions.'

Colin reads the letter Hellman passed him, telling Hellman to return to his shop and solve the riddle included with the letter.

Hellman insists that he needs Colin's help to solve the riddle, he hasn't solved it yet as he's been too busy looking after the stone beast. Colin reads the puzzle:

'It rhymes with brown, but isn't a colour. Brushing and combing it doesn't need. There's only one though many have worn it. I need it now my country to lead.'

Tracey returns to the shop and Hellman tells her to go. Colin tells Tracey that Hellman has the Queen's Beast. Tracey says that she's seen the theft in the newspaper and that the Police are searching for the beast. Colin says he has to go but Hellman tries to persuade him to stay. Colin stays and him and Hellman try to figure out the puzzle but to no avail.

Jace then returns to the shop with the film from the camera. Hellman is on the photograph he's developed and he's with the Queen's Beast.Jace informs them that he's followed a biker called Robert and that he was talking to someone in a canal boat saying that he might have to get rid of them. Hellman then panics thinking he is being spied on. Colin then states that someone has taken the photograph to make it look like Hellman has stolen the beast. Colin explains that it has been stolen and the Police are out looking for it.

Outside Robert looks on but back inside the shopColin asks Hellman if he did steal the beast, Hellman insists that he didn't. Jace xplains to Colin that it is one of the beasts from Hampton Court and that it supposedly has magical powers and only the true King or Queen of the country can take the crown from it's head.

Jace records a message on his dictaphone, as Colin realises the answer to the riddle is 'Crown'. Hellman gives Colin some money for Jace to put a postcard with the answer in the newsagent's window. Hellman then goes out the back of the shop to see who goes to read the postcard.

Jace leaves the shop, as Robert looks on, he leaves the message in the newsagent's window. When Jace goes Roberts comes over and checks the postcard. But someone is watching Robert from a distance. This mystery person reports back saying that the H2O off will give him access.

Hellman returns to the shop and tells Colin and Jace that it was Robert looking, Hellman starts to wonder how many of 'them' there are.

Robert is walking back down the canal but something trips him and the package he is carrying is thrown into the air and gets caught on some wooden beams.

A plumber, who introduces himself as Vine, arrives in the shop saying he's come to fix the water. Hellman tells him to get on with it.

Meanwhile Robert rescues the package from the wooden beams.

Hellman covers the Queen's Beast as Robert knocks on the shop door. Jace hides in the back room and records a message on his dicataphone which Vine overhears.

Colin brings the package in from Robert and tells Hellman it was vitally important. Hellman insists that Colin opens it, 'It might be a bomb' Hellman explains as he ducks out the way. The episode ends with an update from Jace:

'What's in the parcel? Is it a bomb? Has it got anything to do with the Queen's Beast? Who is Robert working for? Secret Agent C.A.B reporting, must investigate further, over and out.'
