C.A.B - On Location

C.A.B had a lot of filming that occured outside (and away from the studio), on this page we try to find where these filming locations actually are.

If you know any locations that were used for filming please let us know, details can be found on the contact us page.

Bramley Road, London

This location has been identified from early in series three when Robert crossed the road from the Newsagents and the Bramley Greengrocers and the Bramley Road Newsagents shop signs can be seen. So, playing secret agents, we had a trip to London to find the Wooden Kamel and the surrounding area.

Bramley Road can be found in West London, by 'Latimer Road' tube station on the Hammersmith & City line (about 17 minutes by tube from King's Cross St.Pancras Underground Station).

On exiting the tube station Bramley Road you turn to the left and walk for a few minutes under the tunnel. The tube station and the tunnel under the tube tracks bridge can be seen briefly during series two in episode two in the scene with Tripe walking from the station and episode four in the scene with Colin about to search for Umma.

The C.A.B logo title for series two seems to be taken facing away from the 'Wooden Kamel' back towards the bridge carrying the tube line. The pictures below show this at various distances and angles.

The Zebra Crossing on Bramley Road that leads to the Wooden Kamel can also be seen in the photographs below.

Further up the road and just past the building that was the Wooden Kamel the shops Colin and Franny walk past at the start of series three including (that was) the Newsagents can be seen. The shop that was featured as the Newsagents (in series three) is no longer open.

The shops to the side of the Wooden Kamel can also be seen in the photographs below, also a map showing the location.

The Wooden Kamel (Bramley Road, London, W10 6SZ)

Further up the road is building used for the outside scenes of The Wooden Kamel, which featured in series two and three. The building is currently vacant and the door is now at the side instead of the front which now shows more tall window panels but despite the changes the building is still recognisable as the Wooden Kamel. It was great to see the Wooden Kamel, I sat on one of the benches just outside looking at the building for some time which is instantly recognisable. The dark green panel is still there although the logo and the sign of The Wooden Kamel aren't!

The surroundings of The Wooden Kamel has changed since filming in the late 1980's, where the flower beds were there is now a large tree that obscures the front of The Wooden Kamel from a distance. There is no access round the back of the building (from the front) as next door is 'Phoenix Brewery' (during filming of series two this was occupied by Cadogan Tate (can be seen in at the start of episode seven).

Below are a series of photographs taken of the shop from varying angles and distances. Click on any of the pictures to see the full size photograph.

We also recorded a small video clip of the approach to The Wooden Kamel interspersed with audio clips from the series and, for comparison, a short scene of Colin discovering the Wooden Kamel (series two episode one) which gives a good view of the building, this clip can be viewed below.

The Washington Public House (50 England's Lane, London NW3 4UE) - Series 1

Seen in episode thirteen in the scene where Smith and Hellman are following Anwar. Smith is seen leaving the pub and hiding by the entrance, Anwar then walks past with Hellman following, Hellman hides where Smith is also hiding but when they look again Anwar has gone, they chase after him not realising they have passed by him.

The scene was filmed on England's Lane alongside the Washington Pub which is still trading. England's Lane is found in Belsize Park, London near 'Chalk Farm' and 'Belsize Park' tube station on the Northern line.

Laurence Corner (62-64 Hampstead Road, London NW1 2NU) - Series 2

Seen in episode two in the scene where Private Tripe goes to get his army uniform. The shop is about a twenty minute walk from King's Cross station, near Euston station. In the episode the sign above the shop reads 'Laurence Corner Government Supplies', Tripe walks towards the shop with the BT Tower visible in the background, passing by Rolles Brothers at 60 Hampstead Road (Lord Palmerstone) previously a wine & spirit merchant trading up to the 1970's, now the Camden People's Theatre.

Laurence Corner sold surplus Army & Navy clothes which closed in 2007, more details can be found on the London remembers website. It is now the Greenlight Pharmacy.

Hampton Court Palace - Series 3

The most recognised and well-known location seen in the series is Hampton Court Palace, this is seen briefly in episode six and ten of series three.
